Visit to La Candelaria, the historic city center where you will be in touch with the traditional colonial architecture of the city, and the historical places where this nation fought for it’s independence and other events. This visit gets a better and complete experience when visiting the icon of the city, the sanctuary of the fallen Lord at Monserrate Hill, one of the most popular things to do in Bogotá. You’ll have fun- filled and informative walks where you will also discover how Colombian society is set, and what it offers culturally. A must-see near Bogotá, you will visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, an architectural structure built within a salt mine, considered to be the first marvel of Colombia. Inside the mine you will find a series of architectural and artistic designs, that combined with the effects of light, create beautiful images of symbols on the walls and the ceiling of the cavernous spaces. Also, inside the mine you will learn about the process of salt formation, as well as part of the salt-mining process. Witness an incredible light show that will make your day truly magical. Visit Filandia, where you will walk the main streets of this charming town observing it’s architecture with a variety of shapes and colors. Enjoy time for a snack and visit to the Cocora Valley. This natural wonder is located in the central Andes range of Colombia, where astonishing and tall wax palm trees grow and create a fairy-tale like scene. Take a short walk (2 hours) to observe the landscapes. Have a traditional lunch and contribute to the preservation of this endemic tree by planting one in a beautiful ritual. In the afternoon, visit Salento, the oldest village of this province, where colors, artesans, mountains and coffee are part of the experience. Duration 8 Hs approx.
Visit Finca del Café, a local coffee farm where you will encounter first-hand the interaction of humans and nature in a fantastic effort that gave place to the current economic development of this mountainous region of Colombia. Here you will experience the colors, aromas, fragrances and sensations that coffee makes you feel. While in the farm, local people will share with you the secrets that gave Colombian coffee its worldwide recognition as the smoothest one on earth. Flight to Cartagena. Check in at the Hotel. Cartagena de Indias is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the Americas. Its historic downtown remains walled by the fortifications built during the colonial time, preserving its original architecture. Nowadays the walled city is shown in an endless number of colors that fill it with life and Caribbean traditions. Its fascinating history as a pearl of the colonial time and as the place where treasures were stored, turned Cartagena de Indias into a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city tour starts visiting the hill of La Popa, an old Augustinian convent located at 150 meters above sea level in the highest point of the city. From here you have the best view of Cartagena and you learn the strategies that were used to defend the city in the colonial times. Then, you will visit the greatest fortress ever built by the Spaniards in their colonies, San Felipe de Barajas. In one hour you will explore this military architectural masterpiece built in coralline stone. Later that day, you will visit the historic center, where in a walk of approximately 2 hours you wander through the most representative and beautiful squares, churches, and streets. Duration 4 hs approx.
Rosario Islands in Cartagena form a Natural Underwater Park ideal for the contemplation of colorful coral reef in shallow water. It is located 45 kilometers away from Cartagena’s Bay. The park protects underwater ecosystems, mainly coral reef, where a variety of colorful fish can be appreciated while snorkeling. Your experience continues with the amazing pristine beaches that surround the natural park. A specialized guide will pick you up from the hotel, and take you in a private vehicle with A/C to La Bodeguita dock. Here you board a motorboat that will take you to Isla del Encanto. The boat ride to the island lasts about an hour. Once you get to the Island you will have time to relax on the beach. As optional activities in the island, you can find snorkelling, kayaking, or a visit to San Martin de Pajarales Aquarium. Your stay in the island includes a traditional lunch.
